Juicing has many benefits

We all need fruits and vegetables in our diets. The more the merrier. They provide us with vitamin C, folate, potassium, magnesium, fiber, and beta-carotene (converted into vitamin A once in the body), as well as strong antioxidants and other natural phyto-chemicals. Juicing is a great way to get more of all this necessary goodness.

Nutritionist Catherine Saxelby writes:

Eating lots of fruits and vegetables helps keep weight down (they’re fat-free), stimulates digestion, keeps you regular and protects eyes from diseases.

Many servings in one sitting

Juicing is a perfect way to get a few servings of vegetables or fruits at the same time quickly. You can actually get better nutrition from fresh juice than from supplements. In Juicing for Life, Cherie Calbom writes:

Nutrients in fresh fruits and vegetables are far more potent than those found in pills, because they are paired with “helper nutrients.” Nutrients influence each other by working synergistically, meaning they create reactions together within the body.

Because the compounds begin to break down right away, the quicker you drink fresh juice after you make it the more nutrition it offers. Fresh juices and from-concentrate juices you might buy at the store just can’t offer the same benefits.

Fight disease

Increasingly, nutritionists and researchers are touting the benefits of consuming many servings of fruits and vegetables as a way to combat high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, diabetes,  even cancer.  And more research is only confirming and expanding on these findings. Frequent juicing can increase your intake quickly and efficiently.

The alkalizing effects of juice can also help to lower inflammation in the body. Whether it’s arthritis, migraines, or fibromyalgia, inflammation is a cause of many diseases and discomforts.
